3 Easy DIY Infused Cannabis Tea Recipes

Creating a simple tisane tea with your cannabis is a great way to consume cannabis discreetly and effectively. Cannabis is a complex plant with a multitude of uses and ways to consume it. For a lot of folks, lung safety is a priority and for that a lot of experienced cannabis consumers are making the switch to edibles. Typically when we think of edibles, we think infused chocolate, gummies, and or nerds ropes. What about consuming an infused tea? Let's explore some easy and effective ways to use cannabis flower in tea!

To decarb or not to decarb?

The choice is yours. Decarboxylation or decarb occurs by exposing the cannabis plant to either heat or sunlight, CBDA converts to CBD. In other words, CBDA is the raw form of cannabis. Without decarboxylation, there will be no obvious euphoric effect that will occur. However, there are potential therapeutic benefits. While most cannabinoids bind directly with either the CB1 or CB2 receptors, CBDA doesn’t work in this way. Instead, CBDA interacts with the endocannabinoid system by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme. These enzymes are associated with inflammation after an injury or infection, so by blocking COX-2 enzymes, CBDA can relieve inflammation and associated pain. 

Creating a simple tisane tea with your cannabis is a great way to consume cannabis discreetly and effectively. Using about 1 gram of raw or decarbed flower can both provide therapeutic effects. Some things to consider:

Ingesting cannabis can take up to 4 hours to take effective depending on your metabolism. Do not ingest more in an effort to feel the effect, this will not work. Overconsuming may cause temporary panic, nausea, vomiting, or fatigue. 

Cannabis loves fat. Be sure to have a full stomach or use a whole fat milk if using in tea or coffee so that the cannabis can be more effective.
