3 Reasons Why I Chose Cannabis as a Tool to Improve My Wellness

There are so many misconceptions about cannabis. There is the lazy stoner stereotype, gateway drug theory, falsities about deadly overdoses, and much more.  Given the propaganda and inconsistent legal status it is understandable that someone may be hesitant to view cannabis as anything more than a street drug. However, despite the mainstream's best efforts more people are learning the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and breaking the stigma through conscious consumption. Here are my 3 reasons why I chose cannabis as a tool to improve my wellness.

1: Hangovers hurt:

Trust me its not just you, your hangover really is getting worse as you get older. Studies have presented that as you age it takes your liver longer to break down acetaldehyde, the toxic substance in alcohol. Since it takes your body longer to metabolize it, it releases back into your blood stream extending the negative effects of alcohol and exaggerating the hangover symptoms. Less alcohol, less hangovers.

2: Cannabis is non-intoxicating:

What makes cannabis so unique is that it truly is a chameleon of a plant in that using the plant consciously can provide you with the desired effect your looking for. As a mom and business professional who experiences anxiety I am not always in a capacity that I can be intoxicated or deal with a hangover. Cannabis allows me to customize the effect it provides by using certain products to produce the intended feeling. For example, if I am working on a project and am experiencing anxiety from the approaching deadline a CBD gummy can help take the edge of without an intoxicating effect. That is because CBD most commonly associated with hemp has little to no THC content. THC is the compound responsible for the euphoric high cannabis is famous for.

3: It suits my wellness journey:

Wellness is not one size fits all. Everyone's wellness journey is unique. For me I felt that the therapeutic benefits of cannabis outweighed the negative. The negative mostly being the shame associated using cannabis caused by the misconceptions and stigma. Afterall, an overdose from cannabis (both THC and CBD) are not lethal as there are no cannabinoid receptors in the part of the brain that control cardiopulmonary function. Cannabis aids wellness by restoring your body's balance through engaging the endocannabinoid system. The effects help improve mood, inflammation, immunity, metabolism, and your overall well-being.

As the unclear legality and misconceptions surrounding cannabis continue to present in the mainstream, it can be challenging for consumers to want to consider trying cannabis for wellness. For my personal wellness journey the therapeutic benefits outweighed the shame associated with using the plant as a tool to improve my well-being.
